Districts across the state have found the means to provide their employees  increases in pay. Seminole County, in contrast, has chosen to restructure the salary schedule in a manner that financially will harm employees to differing degrees forever. A restructuring of the salary schedule will set employees back permanently.

SCPS Proposed Salary Schedule Hurts Real People and Families.

  • No pay raises set employees back.  How can we be expected to meet the rising costs of living and raising a family in Seminole County?

  • The SCPS proposed salary schedule negates the small gains earned in the past, not only for this year, but forever.  It would decrease all future salary earnings throughout our careers.

  • Many employees are in their last 5 years, when retirement is calculated.  The financial damage would affect us not only this year, but forever!  It would even decrease the amount of money our survivors would receive after our demise, if we should choose that retirement payout option.

  • The Board's proposal hurts all teachers, some more than others.

  • It is wrong to pay a new teacher and a one-year teacher the same salary.

  • Almost 75% of teachers with bachelor degrees do not make the average SCPS teacher salary.  It takes 19 years to get there.  65% of all teachers make less than the SCPS average salary.

  • 50% of the teachers with a bachelor's degree make less than $39,000, and it takes 9 years to get there.  There is less than $3,100 between 0 and 9 years experience.
